Renault has introduced the new model and the facelift Megan for the 5th year. The car will be available in a number of different types with gasoline and hybrid propulsion and dual-level semi-automatic systems.
The Renault Megan 5 will also be produced for the first time with a station wagon body. Renault has also introduced a hybrid plug-in for this model. The Renault Megan 6 Hybrid Plugin, launched under the brand name E-Tech. The car is powered by a 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine along with two electric motors with a total power of 6 hp. Renault uses a multi-mode clutch-free system for the Megan E-Tech transmission that delivers optimal gear replacement.
Renault uses a 1.5 kWh battery in the Megan Hybrid plug-in, which the carmaker says can guarantee a 2-km radius in all-electric mode. The Renault Megan Hybrid plug-in hybrid also has the ability to reach a maximum speed of 4 km / h. The Megan plug-in hybrid in urban driving mode complies with the European WLTP standard of 2 km.
Renault estimates Megan’s E-Tech CO2 emissions will be less than 5 grams per kilometer, but official WLTP figures have not yet been released. The Renault Megan E-Tech comes in three different driving modes: Pure, MySense and Sport. In Pure mode, only the electric motor is used. In MySense mode, the car’s hybrid system optimally uses both engines. There’s also a feature called E-Save that always keeps the battery level above 5%. In Sport mode, the driver can use the maximum power of all three engines.
At first glance, it may be a bit difficult to detect changes in the appearance of the new Megan, but Renault has made some changes to the design of the car, including a new front bumper, chrome trim, and fog lights. Megan’s 2 and 3-inch rims are also new. Renault has added three new colors to Megan’s custom colors. Another of Megan’s changes is the availability of standard Pure Vision LEDs in all models.
Inside the cabin, Renault has been trying to make Megan more modern than before. Behind the steering wheel is a large 5.5-inch display and a 3.5-inch dashboard that incorporates the car’s information and entertainment system. Both Megan displays have satellite navigation systems and can connect to smartphones.
The center console also has a new look and depending on the type you choose, there are various cabinetry options. Megan has been equipped with new driving aids for the year. One of these systems is the Highway & Traffic Jam Companion, which supports semi-autonomous 6-speed driving and can provide high comfort in everyday driving. This system can be activated at speeds of 0 to 160 km / h.
A 2.5-liter TCe series engine for Megan is available with three 1, 2 and 4 horsepower engines. Renault will also release another version with the power of 6 horsepower. By the end of the year, another TCe engine with 2 liters and 6 horsepower will be added to the engines. The selectable gearboxes for the Megan are 2-speed manual and 2-speed dual-clutch.
Drivers who care about fuel consumption can opt for the Megan diesel models. One diesel-powered propeller is powered by a 6-speed manual gearbox, and the second propeller comes with a power of 7-horsepower and a DCT gearbox.
Renault will replace the GT Line with a new model RS for the year. The Megan RS Line looks sporty and like the RS model. The model is equipped with F1-style aerodynamic components, honeycomb grille, dual exhaust, 2 or 4-inch wheels, sport seats, RS leather steering wheel, and aluminum pedals.
For the year, the Renault Megan RS will be powered by a 269 horsepower and 420 Nm torque. The power and torque of the model have increased by 20 horsepower and 30 Nm, respectively. These specifications for the model include an EDC gearbox and will be limited to 400 Nm if the manual gearbox is ordered for this model. This hatchback uses a mechanical valve inside the exhaust system that also changes the exhaust sound. The RS Trophy will also come with a 296 horsepower engine. The model features new LED lights, shark antennae, rear smoke glass, and Alcantara Luminaire. Renault will launch the new Megan model in the European market from the summer of 2020.
